Dr. Monique Santoro uses Chinese Medicine to bring harmony and healing to the body. In addition to acupuncture, she utilizes gua sha, tui na (Chinese massage), cupping, Moxibustion and Qi Gong techniques. As a certified herbalist, she prescribes Chinese herbs to enhance healing. Her passion is to be a general practitioner to her patient's health and treat ailments from pain, digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, substance abuse, women’s health, etc. She also has a passion for nutrition and incorporates dietary recommendations into her treatments.
With a background in Chinese and Western medicine, Dr. Santoro understands the importance of integrative care. She received her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine with a concentration in integrative medicine from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts. Her doctorate focus included cardiology, neurology, orthopedics and obstetrics. This also gives her the tools communicate with Western doctors to create a team for each patients health. Her ultimate goal is to assist people in living their healthiest life.
Dr. Santoro also holds a national diplomate in Oriental medicine from the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). This makes her board-certified to practice Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine.
Due to her experience with integrative medicine, Dr. Santoro is proficient in reading lab work and translating it into Chinese Medicine Theory. She has worked with western medical teams that include surgeons, nurse practitioners and family doctors to successfully treat patients with a variety of symptoms. Dr. Santoro would love to be a part of your medical team.
Dr. Santoro serves the North Carolina acupuncture community as a board member of the North Carolina Society of Acupuncture and Asian Medicine (NCSAAM).
